About the role
Aurora is building the AI layer that reaches the offline economy — calling real businesses, holding real conversations, and returning verified answers. As a founding engineer in San Francisco, you will have broad ownership across product surfaces and the systems underneath them.
This seat is for someone who thrives with high agency: ambiguous problems, fast shipping, and the judgment to choose what matters when everything feels important.
What you'll do
- Own critical product and infrastructure work from design through production, spanning backend services, APIs, and user-facing flows.
- Ship zero-to-one systems that let Aurora place, run, and reason over real-world calls at increasing scale.
- Partner directly with founders on architecture, prioritization, and the technical bets that define the company.
- Set engineering standards early — reliability, observability, and code quality — while moving at founding-team speed.
What we're looking for
- Strong full-stack or systems engineering background with production ownership of ambiguous, high-impact work.
- Comfort spanning product and infrastructure: you can ship a user-facing feature and harden the service behind it.
- High agency in early-stage environments — you create clarity, ship, and iterate without heavy process.
- Bias toward outcomes: prototypes this week beat proposals next quarter.
Nice to have
- Prior founder or founding-team experience.
- Experience with AI-powered products, agents, or real-time systems.
- Exposure to consumer or marketplace products at the earliest stages.
- IIT/BITS/NIT graduate preferred.
Compensation
Competitive cash plus a meaningful founding-team ESOP grant. Final band depends on experience and evaluation.
